The Dutch carpet manufacturer Karpi presents a new collection of carpets in collaboration with couturier Mart Visser. Under the label 'Mart Visser Carpets', a choice is offered from 7 types of carpets. A series of abstract paintings by the artist formed the basis for the designs. The affordable and handmade rugs are available in all kinds of colors, uni or with print.
Fashion designer Mart Visser has had a second great passion for eight years now, making paintings, sculptures and installations. This Artwork was the reason for Karpi to approach Mart to develop his own collection of rugs. In his studio in the south of France he started experimenting purely intuitively with structures, relief, color gradient and aging. The result is a collection of unique rugs.
Mart Visser: “I usually paint rough and abstract heads that contrast with the modernist and fine lines of my Haute Couture designs. For the 'Mart Visser Carpets', the color palette and the dynamic diversity of materials are the only overlaps with my couture collections. The designs are characterized by high and low contrasts in tone-on-tone or contrasting color combinations.
